
Bunker Hill is the cultural center of Downtown Los Angeles. Located along Grand Avenue, the Music Center is home to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theater, Mark Taper Forum and the architectural masterpiece Walt Disney Concert Hall. Performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Master Chorale, and Los Angeles Opera as well as artistic productions by the Center Theatre Group are found at the Music Center. REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater, is part of the Walt Disney Concert Hall and presents innovative visual, performing and media arts.
Museum of Contemporary Art
On Grand Avenue across from the Walt Disney Concert Hall is the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). Built in 1979 and designed by Arata Isozaki, MOCA is the only museum in Los Angeles devoted exclusively to contemporary art.
Colburn School of Performing Arts
The Colburn School of Performing Arts, located next to MOCA, provides music, dance and drama training to students ranging in age from preschool to adult.
Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels
Heading North on Grand Avenue at Temple Street is the majestic Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The Cathedral was completed in 2002 and designed by architect Jose Rafael Moneo. It is the largest Catholic Church in the United States featuring world-renowned art and architecture.
Los Angeles Central Library
South on Grand at 5th Street is the Los Angeles Central Library. Designed and built by Bertram Goodhue in 1926, the LA Central Library was one of LA’s most beloved historic landmarks. After two devastating fires and a redesign by architect Norman Pfeiffer in 1983, the LA Central Library is now a state-of-the-art, high-tech full service library as well as an extraordinary historic monument.
