Historic Downtown

Historic Downtown is the home of an unequaled collection of early 20th Century commercial architecture. Within 3rd and 9th Streets and Main and Broadway, the district includes 24 blocks of Beaux Arts, Art Deco and revival-style buildings.

This extraordinary historic area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Historic Downtown is also a burgeoning residential neighborhood with lofts and apartments being converted from empty office spaces in an unprecedented adaptive reuse program.

Broadway

Broadway contains 12 major historic theaters and the largest number of movie palaces in the world. It was once the City's most popular gathering center and home to movie premieres, ticker-tape parades and shopping at the region's best department stores.

Spring Street

Spring Street, east of Broadway was the premier location for the City's banks and brokerage firms in the early 20th Century. Today Spring Street features the largest collection of Beaux-Arts buildings remaining in the United States.

Bradbury Building

One of Downtown Los Angeles? most remarkable architectural achievements is the Bradbury Building located on 3rd and Broadway. Built in 1893 by Louis S. Bradbury and designed by George Wyman, the Bradbury was designed to include one of the very first glass ceilings.
