Toy District

The Toy District is a wholesale/retail area with much more than toys. Shoppers find silk flowers, electronics, DVD's and videos, incense/oils and luggage, as well as the traditional toys such as dolls, die-cast cars, action figures, character figures and video games. The pedestrian traffic is especially active on weekends and holidays.

The District is a 14-block area on the eastside of Downtown Los Angeles. The District is bounded by 3rd Street (on the north), San Pedro Street (on the east), 5th Street (on the south), and Werdin Place (on the west). In addition is one block to the east bounded by San Pedro Street to the west, Boyd Street to the north, Omar Avenue to the east, and 4th Street to the south.

Fire Station 23

Fire station 23, located in the Toy District at 225 E. 5th Street, was built in 1910 and housed the very first Los Angeles Fire Chief and his family from 1919 to 1928. Affectionately called 'Old 23', the station is listed on the National Register of Historical Services and has acted as a background for several movies including ?Ghostbusters?. Originally a horse-drawn engine company, steel plates are still intact where the four engines stood on the wood floor.

Central Division

The Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division houses Patrol, Narcotics, Vice, Metropolitan and Central Traffic Divisions. It is located at 251 E. 6th Street.

410 Boyd Restaurant

The general fare at 410 Boyd is American Bistro. The soups are always fresh and made daily. Specialties include Gorgonzola Crusted New York Steak, Blackened Catfish Sandwich and Grilled Rare Ahi Nicoise Salad. The comfortable full bar is open even after the kitchen closes.
