Throughout downtownlawalks.com and as posted on the 1,300 signs that comprise the Downtown LA Walks program, there are 13 different icons that represent specific neighborhoods and areas of Downtown. Get Ready to Walk
Downtown LA is comprised of more than 100 square blocks and contains some gradual elevation gains as you proceed northbound. Comfortable shoes are recommended when planning a long walk through our city streets.

Getting tired? Jump on a bus!

Freeways, one-way streets and parking
Downtown LA is framed by major freeway intersections so arriving into Downtown by car is simple. Once there, please note that the city contains many one-way streets so be alert.   Meanwhile, public parking lots are spread throughout the Downtown area, with a high concentration located at every major destination and office building. Travel by Train and Bus
Downtown LA is the major destination of Southern California's extensive public transportation system. Tourists and commuters coming into Downtown from outside of LA County will likely arrive into Union Station, while the Metro Trains will bring travelers into a number of downtown stations. Meanwhile, LA boasts 200 bus routes and 4 rail lines so traveling into Downtown by bus and train is simple, easy and fun. Visit www.metro.net to plan your trip.

Southern California Weather
Los Angeles has more than 300 days of sunshine per year so the odds are in your favor of having great weather for walking our sidewalks and visiting our Downtown destinations. However, please prepare for warm weather conditions since our temperatures can reach above 80 degrees during the summer months. When walking in Downtown, there are many convenience stores where bottled water can be purchased.

Arriving into Downtown From LAX
Downtown LA is located approximately 15 miles away from Los Angeles International Airport. Traveling to and from the airport can be accomplished via a variety of public transportation options, private or hired car, and a number of shuttle services. To optimize your travel experience to and from LAX, plan to travel during off-peak traffic periods and/or account for busy roadways.

With major attractions dotting the Downtown landscape, it is recommended that travelers plan ahead when seeking tickets to events.
